FEVERDREAM.’s music has percussive, driving rhythms that are accompanied with well-timed vocal melodies and intentionally placed lead patterns. You won’t know if you are in a dark grungy basement or longboarding on the boardwalk along the Pacific Coast. The result is a fun indie rock sound with catchy leads and a meaningful story to tell. The lyrics and the stories behind them carry themes of relationship, growth, loss, healing, self-care, awareness, and change that listeners can identify with.

TWIN FLAMES REVIEW - DIVIDE AND CONQUER
FEVERDREAM. was born in the fall of 2019 in Indianapolis, IN, after childhood best friends, Mikey Garrett and Ian Kinsey decided to start playing music together. They fleshed out their chemistry with two other members Vinny Corsaro and Geoffrey Sears. After releasing five singles, FEVERDREAM. released a five-song EP entitled Twin Flames.
The band has primarily a garage rock vibe somewhere between The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and other like-minded bands that were very popular around fifteen years ago. They get going with “Light” and the band comes out of the gates rocking. The bass buzzes, the drums are wild and the guitar is wicked. After the initial explosion the band settles into a verse. It’s a buoyant and fun verse. I liked the vocals, guitar melodies and overall delivery. The chorus rocks and the band hits it out of the park with this song.
Next up is “Fingers Crossed” and the band knocks it out of the park with this song as well and it is the arguable highlight. I would say the similarities to The Strokes are most evident on this song. In terms of the production I liked a number of things that was going on. The reverb on the vocals was well done and the choice to give some distortion to the bass and leave the guitars relatively clean was a good call which gave the song some space.
Up next is “Wine.” The band mentions “This song is about one of Mikey's favorite dates with my now fiancé.” Apparently he was going through a rough period and this date gave him a spark in the darkness. The song is catchy and infectious. I also thought the dueling guitar work was fantastic.
The title track “Twin Flames” is next. I never heard of the term ‘twin flames’ before but according to the band it’s a concept they heard about on a podcast. “Twin flames are stronger than soulmates, but they aren’t always meant to be. Your twin flame is somebody you will always be connected to. It might be a good friend. It doesn't have to be romantic. It is just an aggressive likeness of being tied together forever.” The song has heavy guitar work and lots of solid grooves. They sound dynamic and I feel the transitions were well done where they amp up the energy enough to get your adrenaline pumping.
“New Perspective” is about the stages of a panic attack. This song is particularly reminiscent of bands like Local Natives. There’s some nice piano work and the guitar flourishes add this atmospheric quality. The song has distinctly different parts and the energy amps up considerably during the middle where the band just goes off in a very cool way. They eventually settle back down and sort of trail off till the end.
This was a great EP. The band writes good songs and the performances are top notch. It's also really accessible, fun and repeat worthy. Recommended.
